bride blogger katie: final countdown

The flowers have been ordered and our rings have been purchased.  We’re just about ready for the big day to be here!
My mom and I met with Stacy of Petal Creations on Saturday afternoon to finalize our petals so that they could be ordered (and they were yesterday!).  Over this past weekend, I was feeling a little overwhelmed by everything and everyone that still needed my attention.  Stacy was simply fabulous and helped bring me back to feeling pre-wedding excitement instead of stress.  We are going with a palette that will be all whites and creams and I just cannot wait to see it!  Spray roses, hydrangeas, and button mums, oh my!
Jerad and I have been in search of our wedding bands for several months, and finally found the perfect rings on Sunday evening.  Can’t lie – I was getting pretty nervous about our timeline on this one (hence the feeling of being overwhelmed), but it was important to Jerad for the search to continue until we found just the right bands.  He spent a lot of time choosing the diamond for my engagement ring, so it was really important to him that we find a band to enhance it and not make the whole set too busy.  We choose a thin band of diamonds that we will have sautered slightly below the solitaire mounting.  It was difficult to pick a ring for Jerad, too, (though I think it probably is for any guy that isn’t used to wearing a ring), especially since he works with having his hands in machinery a lot.  We choose a Tungsten band for him.  The appealing thing about Tungsten is that it is stronger, and so less likely to get scratched and scuffed up over time.  However, because it is stronger, it can’t be re-sized, and can only be shattered, so Jerad probably won’t be wearing it while having his hands inside a combine.
What’s left?

  • Tracking down a few MIA RSVPs
  • Picking the music for our reception – including the 1st dance!
  • Practice run on my hair tomorrow night
  • Christmas!

Only 10 days to go!  I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and hope that you get to enjoy some time with the ones you love most.  When I post next, it’ll be wedding week!
