I got the call last week that my wedding dress finally came in at Ellynne Bridal! It had been six long months since I ordered it and I bought it after trying on just five dresses, so needless to say, I was anxious to see it again and try that baby on! Since my fiancé supposedly reads my blog posts, I can’t show you what it looks like, but it’s a Maggie Sottero and trust me, it’s gorg.

Having the dress in my possession makes this whole wedding thing feel real for the first time. It is also forcing me to realize how much there still is left to do to complete my look…let alone everything else!

I already have a salon appointment booked for me and my ‘maids on the big day at a Shear Thing Salon in Omaha.  I’m leaning toward a half-up, half-down hair style similar to Angelina’s look below. I also LOVE Angelina’s earrings in that photo and it inspired me to look for similar and much more affordable ones on Rent the Runway.  I’m considering the dangles below because not only are they fantastic, but they’re also a way to incorporate my “something blue.” On the other hand, I always hear people say that you shouldn’t stray too much from your normal look on you wedding day and I’m not a big jewelry person. Maybe I should try to find sapphire studs somewhere because that seems more “me”? With four months to go, we’ll see how many times my mind changes.

I booked my make up artist, Natalie, just weeks after we got engaged. Natalie owns Sweet Jane Salon(perfect for bridal parties!) I’ve seen her work on a few other friends and it is stunning. Since I feel as if I lack in that area of expertise, it really takes the stress off of me knowing I will have a professional to give me a gorgeous bridal glow. I will meet with her in early August for my consultation. I still have a few weeks to decide if I want airbrush or foundation, and I am anxious to talk to Natalie for her advice!

When looking at make up ideas, I knew I wanted something fresh, pretty and simple. I love big eyelashes and bright eyes, and that is as far as I’ll take it. I want to look the best version of myself on my big day.

Sticking with that same idea…looking the best version of myself, I had a change of heart on my hair style. Did I love love LOVE the style Amanda did for me? Yes! However, I have had second thoughts on pulling my bangs back rather than them down like I wear every day. I am honestly tossing that idea back and forth. I felt like my bangs back didn’t look like me, but then again, I’m not sure I like how my bangs down with my veil. Am I the only bride that obsesses over their bangs?! Please tell me some of you have things that you are stuck on too!

So, I will ask you, which do you like better?

  • K - Bangs down! You’ll look great! 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Angie - BANGS DOWN, SIDE SWEPT!ReplyCancel

  • Aunt Susan - Hi Megan!
Bangs are more casual and will give a younger feel. Off your face is more ageless and sophisticated, especially if you look at it from a photography perspective as bangs can cast shadows. Sweeping them to the side could be a good compromise.
    Love ya,

Since you’ve already gotten a sneak peak at a couple of dresses I’ve been eyeing over the past few weeks, I thought I’d take the opportunity this week to share with you some other styles have caught my attention.  All of the images below came from stylemepretty.

Jerad & I had the perfect opportunity to start talking about tux styles a few weeks ago when we went in to have him fitted for a wedding he’ll be in this fall.  I was really glad to find that our tastes were pretty similar in this department!  We’ll be going with a notch lapel jacket paired with a classic formal neck tie for a clean, timeless look.

I love this ring pillow – a great DIY project and a perfect way to tie in “something blue”.  I also plan to incorporate a blue crystal rosary that was my father’s in with my bouquet somehow.

And, doesn’t every winter bride need a bridal fur?  🙂

 206 days to go!

This look is effortless and casual with a splash of a bohemian style carried through a summery pattern. Ruffles and pompoms add some character and texture to the cake and space.
