This past weekend I worked on getting the invitations printed and put together. I was so blessed to have my Aunt design our invitation(which took a lot of time and stress off of me!) If you have forgotten, let me remind you of the logo she designed for us here. I am so happy and pleased with how they turned out! Now all I have left to do is put stamps on them and send them out in the next few weeks!

Cheers!

Yesterday we hit the 7-month mark on our countdown to the big day! The biggest to-do that has been on my mind recently, and this past week especially, is the quest for the dress.  My search thus far has encompassed Kearney (where I am living currently), Lincoln (where most of my family & friends are), Wahoo, and Omaha.  I have my search narrowed down to a handful of dresses at this point, but it will be a tough one to decide!  Here’s an example of what I’m loving:

This is a dress that I found at Ellynne Bridal in Lincoln.  It’s style #411 from the Pronovias line.  I love the ruching and draping of this dress.  I also love that it doesn’t have a lot of embellishments – the beauty of the style speaks for itself and it can be glammed up however you want.  The ruching continues in the back and has buttons covering a zipper.  If I don’t go with this dress, it will probably be something very similar.

If you’re currently dress shopping, these are some things you might want to consider:

  • I read a tip in a bridal magazine once that suggested not shopping at more than 3 salons because you may just end up getting yourself confused.  True!
  • It’s great to start getting your ideas from magizines, but be open to trying on a wild card dress.  Each time I’ve gone, I’ve had a friend pick out something different from the dresses I was leaning towards and, actually, some of those have made it to my top choices.  For the most part, my strategy has been to try on different styles to see what I love, then gravitating towards variations of a similar design.
  • At the same time, if you know that you aren’t at all interested in the wild card pick, don’t waste your time!
  • If you’re looking for a vintage dress,  it could definitely be worth your time to make a daytrip to Wahoo.  Although I haven’t been looking for vintage gowns myself, I had no idea they offered such a selection.  They had an entire wall in the back of the store dedicated to their vintage gowns, and all were priced at under $50!
  • If you can work it into your schedule to do your shopping mid-week, you’ll find salons to be a much more relaxed place.  With fewer people in the stores, you can have more time to browse at your leisure, and more attention from your consultant, too.

As for my ongoing quest for the dress, I think I’ll take a week or two off, then circle back to make my final decision.

On a side note, Thank you for the feedback on our color decision.  I’ve decided to go with a combination of black and pewter for our colors – I think that will give us a festive palette to play with!

213 days to go!

Take your rustic look to the next level with antique buckets and tins, lanterns, old wood tables and plenty of flowers. We are itching to skip off to that barn reception!

Something white, something romantic, something glamourous and something bling. Can it get any prettier? We think not!
