The bride and her bridesmaids in berry-red dresses hold colorful bouquets made by Dustin Moorhead

Richly-Colored Wedding at The Barn at Ackerhurst Dairy Farm

Caroline and Nevin chose their venue for the memories it evoked of spending days at their grandparents’ farms in eastern Nebraska. Family played an important part in this wedding: both the bride’s and groom’s mother’s wedding dresses stood on display, as well as Grandma Holoubek’s lace gown and a scrapbook from her wedding day. The couple booked dueling pianos for the reception, which were a huge hit and kept everyone on the dance floor all night long.

FROM THE BRIDE: Our wedding was, unequivocally, us. Neither of us could stop laughing or smiling – as we said our vows, we could barely contain ourselves. It all felt so natural and intimate. Our wedding style was very classic and personal. We chose the venue because I had had a dream after we got engaged about a greenhouse and, after searching together, we stumbled upon the newly-opened conservatory at Lauritzen Gardens. The conservatory reminded us of the beauty of Dominica where we adventured together, so we thought it was only fitting to start our greatest adventure yet somewhere that reminded us of the island. Reflecting back one of my favorite memories was dancing to “Unchained Melody” for the first time with my husband – the song that I fell in love with when I was little and wanted, some day, to dance at my wedding to – and the first song that Andrew, unknowing of that fact, ever played for me.

Real Wedding // Meredith + Alec

In case you missed this stunning Real Wedding in our 2017 Summer Issue – we wanted to share all of the goods with you today on the blog. Beautifully photographed by The Mullers, every detail of this bright and modern wedding is incredible! The couple wanted to plan a formal yet fun, black-tie wedding and they certainly hit the mark. Don’t miss all of the gorgeous details below!

FROM THE BRIDE: Our wedding day was a fairy tale! It was the wedding that I had always dreamed of and so much more. There were intricate surprises at every turn for our guests and even for Alec and I. All of my expectations were exceeded thanks to Lovestruck Events, the guests, and most importantly, Alec and I’s family. My favorite memory was walking down the aisle – Alec and I chose not to see each other before the ceremony so this was a really special part for the both of us. As my Dad walked me down the aisle, I remember telling myself to slow down, and enjoy this moment because the rest of the day was going to fly by. The most important part of our wedding planning was the food. We went on the cutting-edge of food design and did food stations! We wanted our guests to experience a fun, laid back cocktail atmosphere where they could walk around and mingle while eating bite-sized “farm to fork” entrees. Brides when planning your wedding – ENJOY THIS TIME! There are so many little things that you are going to be stressed about, but always remember the reasoning behind it all: your marriage. After all of the headaches, the emails, the guest list drama and the to-do lists – remember that in the end, you get to spend the rest of your life with your best friend. This is a once in a lifetime experience, don’t let it drag you down!

anniekyleblogpost2FROM THE BRIDE: Looking back it happened in a flash! So much is happening at once around you and it is a cluster of emotions, yet it was better than we could have ever imagined! It was important for us that we select an experienced photographer because our wedding photos are what will last throughout the years. We also wanted a good florist who could create the atmosphere we wanted. After the festivities, our photographer took us and our wedding party downtown for more cool wedding shots. It was a great time to take in everything that had just happened with all of our friends before we headed off for our honeymoon! To the bride, don’t forget to treat yourself. It is stressful so take breaks and enjoy it! To the groom, just shake your head and smile!

FROM THE BRIDE: Our wedding day was our own personal fairy tale filled with a lot of love, a ton of laughter, our amazing family & friends and music that made us never wanting the night to end! When thinking back on our wedding day, I’ll never forget the love we felt from everyone and truly enjoying every second spent with them. It was really important to us that everyone felt at home at our wedding because all of our guests traveled to celebrate our day. We made it a point to spend time with everyone and soak in as much of the day as we could! The flowers, drapery and greenery provided an atmosphere that felt like it had jumped straight out of a book while the laughter in the air provided warmth to make the barn feel like a cozy cabin! Our day was never just about us, but about all of the people who helped us get to where we are today and we couldn’t have had more fun with all of them! When planning your big day – remember to enjoy it and always be a team on all decisions. Although the wedding is about the bride and groom, never forget about how many people are taking time to travel and spend their day with you – so be sure to make the day about them as well!
